thrifted.

Over the last few days i've scoured quite a few thrifted goodies. Friday, a thrift shop downtown closed down, And as you can imagine, everything was marked down. Still, most everything in the store was outrageously expensive but i did end up finding two school desks. (as pictured above.) They were really dirty, but they cleaned up fairly easily. They're sitting in the living room right now but i'm not so sure this is where they will stay. They're cute and i really like them, but i just don't really know where to put them. They're awkward like that!

I think me and Nathan went everywhere in the entire county. First to the flea market. It was a let down. I think we each ended up getting a few movies a piece that were marked down quite a bit, but that's all. Then we went down to the Peddler's mall. It was pretty much a bust, too. I did find this cutie though.
Isn't it adorable? Yes, i thought so too. I got it on the cheap, as well. I think it'll find it's way into my bedroom to sit and look pretty.

The heat pretty much killed me today. It was so unbearable hot, and it seemed like pretty much every place we went, the air conditioner was broken. bummer bears. I've got to get a quick nap in before work.

Shew! What a crazy couple of days!

Tuesday night i worked from 9pm-5am, came straight home and went to bed. Wednesday morning i had to be up around 10am to meet with the new landlord, sign the lease, go to the bank, pick up my paycheck, blah blah blah. Wednesday afternoon i had to be back at work at 3pm. I was running on about 3 1/2 hours of sleep, but i made it through. Wednesday evening, (while i was still at work) April managed to round all the troops, and got nearly everything moved from the old house into the new one! I felt really bad that i was at work and wasn't able to help, but it was really nice to come home to a new house, with all my stuff already in it!

Originally i was supposed to work this afternoon, but i worked out a deal with one of my managers and i convinced him to let me off today, so i could get settled in our new house. I had big plans for today, as far as cleaning, organizing and arranging go, but i massively overslept. When i finally got up, i did kick it into high gear and was able to get a lot of things done. Everything in the kitchen and bathroom is set up, the living room is pretty much done, it's looking a little empty though. I'd say it's about twice the size as our last one and we definitely don't have enough furniture. And my bedroom is pretty much done too. I still need to find the best spot for my bed. And then decorate, decorate, decorate!

We haven't got our tv turned or internet turned on yet. (I'm currently stealing wireless from my neighbors :D) I'm kind of in charge of that, so i'm planning on putting it off as long as possible. Especially the tv part of it all. I'm trying to convince April and Chris that we'll all do just fine on Netflix. You have sooo many more choices anyways.

I really should be finishing up on my room, but i need a little break from that.
i'm so happy to be settled in my new house!
yayayay!!

relocating!

Well, i'm moving again!
We're heading straight downtown, and i couldn't be happier.
We found a duplex, and it's pretty nice. It could definitely use some sprucing up, but i'm really happy to take on the challenge! It's also got a much better price tag, and the location is pretty much perfect. We wont be right in the center of downtown, but everyone will only be about 5 minutes away from work, as well as about 5 minutes away from everywhere else we would ever want to go! That's about 5 times faster than where we are living now.

gah, i have so much packing to do!
i better get on that.

boy, it's hot outside.

Goodness gracious, it's hot out! It's been so ungodly humid, that right as soon as i walk out of the house, i'm drenched in sweat, and i feel like i can't breathe. And on top of that, i'm battling a shitty sinus infection. All i want to do is sleep, and swim. I think at this point, i think i'd like to try sleeping in the pool. If i could rig up a contraption that would allow me to sleep safely in the pool, while still being in the comfort of the water, i'd do it in a heartbeat! I'm not even kidding!!!

It was so hot out today, i went back to Dairy Queen. And i did not get a poo julius, oh no. I treated myself to a delicious Reese's cup blizzard.
And it was good. It's peanut buttery, chocolatey goodness really did the trick. YUMMY.

Now, i must go find something in my house to eat. We are so broke, and so hungry. Not a good combination. Wish me luck!

celebrity crush.

My love for Josh Holloway grows more and more everyday. I'm obsessed with LOST. Honestly, i really think it's one of the best television shows of all time. It's incredible and i fully recommend that every single person in the entire world should watch it. If you multiplied my love for LOST by 3, then you'd have the amount of love I have for Josh Holloway's character, Sawyer. He's the best bad/good guy. He's very tough, he can be mean, and he's done some pretty shitty things, but at the end of the day he's a good guy. You just wanna hug him.
 I just love that guy.

cat catastrophy.

Ringo and Paul (both the cats) are wreaking havoc on our home. They sliced two gigantic slits in our shower curtain. They've eaten nearly every single cord or cable in our entire house, including an ethernet cable, my phone charger, and a camera usb cord! They've turned into little demolishers. Every single thing they get their hands on, they wreck! And they use they the bathroom about 1 million and 7 times a day. They are the stinkiest cats in the world! Shew, lord, do they stink!

On a lighter note, it's looking like we are going to be moving out of this HELL-HOLE of a house within the next month or so. I really hope we are able to find a better house, with a lower price tag. We are severly over-paying for this terrible house. Moving out on your own is a very exciting time, but it can also be very terrifying. Since we moved in, there has been a major catastrophy in this house. It never ends. Something is always broken. We just cannot deal with it anymore. So, for the last week or so, we've been apartment hunting. There seems to be a million things for rent, but we're not sure that anything is really going to work for us. I just can't wait to get out of this darn house, and into something much cuter!
I'm ready for a little more of this.

Poo Julius.

After dinner tonight, me and April decided that we really wanted to go get a blizzard from Dairy Queen. I love, love, love blizzards, Especially Reese's Cup Blizzards. So yummy and delish. A few months back, one of the Dairy Queen's in our town actually turned into an Orange Julius. I had heard of them, but never actually had an Orange Julius anything. I didn't even really know what it was.

So, today i got brave and decided i'd have an Orange Julius smoothie instead of a blizzard. I chose what "appeared" to have been something along the lines of a lemon ice. But boy was i wrong. I hate to say it, but it was so, so gross! The flavor was really wonky, and at first i couldn't even tell that it was lemonade. It was topped off with a really icky frothy-foamy top that tasted like bubbles. Then underneath the bubble gunk, was supposed to be the frozen ice part of the drink. It was the consistency of water and tasted like a mixture of an Orange Push-Up and lemonade. I was SO NOT HAPPY. I went inside Dairy Queen/Orange Julius and i told the manager that i though i got the wrong thing. Then he proceeded to take the lid of and then HE SMELLED IT. And then gave it back to me. So gross, and so weird!

I did NOT have a pleasant first experince with the Orange Julius. It said on the cup that Orange Julius has been around since 1926, but i can't see how! It was gross!

I really want a blizzard.

freak moments.

I love skirts. All kinds of skirts. But, i never wear them. And do you wanna know why? I'm terrified of my legs. I cannot even think about putting on a skirt or a pair of shorts that don't come to my knees. I've tried wearing shorter skirts in the past, but i cannot get over how self conscious i am about my legs. And i have no idea why! They just really kind of freak me out. I've talked myself out of so many adorable dresses, and it's all because i'm so scared of my legs showing.

During winter, it's not really too much of a problem. I just throw some tights on or leggings underneath and pull on my boots, and i'm good to go. But i cannot force myself to wear tights in the summer, because i think they are the most uncomfortable things on this planet, then mix that with 1 million percent humidity, I DON'T FREAKING THINK SO!

I wanna be carefree, throw on a short dress, and not worry about the fat rolls that i "think" that i have on the back of my knees. (I don't even know if that's possible?)

Like i mentioned in my last post, Nathan and myself have been exercising really regularly here lately. My only goal is to feel better about my legs. I don't care if i don't lose a pound, i just wanna feel better about my legs. Wish me luck!

mini blog vacation.

Well, i guess i took another little mini blog vacation. I didn't intend to either. Since little Pauly had his little "dying-coming back to life" episode, i guess he thinks he runs this house. In the last week he's eaten a pair of flip-flops, an anniversary card that Nathan made for me, and one of our internet cables. So, that's why i've been on a little vacation.

A lot has happened in this week and a half. On Thursday, the 24th, Nathan and myself celebrated our two-year anniversary. We had planned for a day trip to Louisville, to see one of our favorite bands, Andrew Jackson Jihad, but after a lot of useless bickering concerning lack of funds, we decided to sit that one out. We ended up not doing too much of anything. We took a trip out to his parents house, they were out of town, so we had their big 'ol house all to ourselves for the night. It was really nice.

And since i haven't been able to use the internet during the last week, me and Nathan have been exercising in place of time i use for blogging. It's so much easier to stay motivated when you have a work out partner, and it makes everything go by a little quicker. I hate working out. I don't find it therapeutic or thrilling. I think it really, really sucks. So, having a partner is really helping me a lot to stick with it. So far, i think we are doing really good.

I really have missed my little corner of the internet. I've also really missed my blog. I'm making a promise to myself to get back into the swing of things as quickly as possible! I apologize for not being around as much. Hopefully that will be changing soon!

xoxo, kara.

ps. later tonight, i think i'm going to post a blog about how i'm scared of my legs. so, stay tuned for that!
